Yves Béhar’s innovative and eco-friendly Leaf Light has been awarded a 2008 Red Dot Award for Product Design. This LED light was chosen from thousands of entries in the lighting category for its functionality, ergonomics, durability and energy-saving capabilities.
A LED, short for light-emitting diode, is a semiconductor device which converts electricity into light. LEDs are better at placing light in a single direction than incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. LED lights are more rugged and damage-resistant than compact fluorescents and incandescent bulbs. LED lights don't flicker. They are very heat sensitive; excessive heat or inappropriate applications dramatically reduce both light output and lifetime. LED lights also do not produce heat like incandescent lights. LEDs last considerably longer than incandescent or fluorescent lighting. LEDs don't typically burn out like traditional lighting, but rather gradually decrease in light output.
